Corfe Castle

Dorset is brimming with natural wonders and fascinating historical sites. It's an area rich in natural beauty, from Durdle Door's epic limestone arch to the charming village of Abbotsbury and the steep cliffs of West Bay. Last year, I visited Dorset for the first time and fell in love with the county. Corfe Castle was a highlight, so I thought it was only right to tell you a little bit more about it. However, the trip story starts from my home.
I booked a flight to land at Heathrow Airport. From there onward I found one of the leading cab services called company. I contacted them through their Whatsapp number. They offered fair charges from Airport to Castle. So I booked a suitable cab for me. On the day of the flight, they verified with me about coming. And followed my flight schedule. It impressed me. When my plane landed, the driver was already available outside. He took my luggage from my hands to put it in the car trunk. He was nice to me. He drove so well throughout the trip. He dropped me at my location.
Corfe Castle is not only the name of the castle; it is also the name of the village it overlooks. The view will take your breath away as you drive down the small village's main street. The remnants of the ancient castle, perched on top of a 55-meter-high hill, loom over the village. The first stones are thought to have been laid over 1,000 years ago. The original keep, however, was built around the beginning of the 12th century out of local limestone for William the Conqueror's son (King Henry I).
Most castles around this time were made of earth and timber, so it's assumed that this was a particularly important castle. Throughout history, the castle served many functions, including royal residence, treasury, and military fortress. Unfortunately, the castle was ordered to be destroyed following the English Civil War, so while it is no longer standing, the remnants are still worth seeing! The National Trust now manages the site, which includes a visitor center and tea rooms. I chose to walk to the castle, as well as explore the charming streets when I visited. It's a small village, so a lap won't take long, but it'll be well worth it.
There are charming thatched cottages with colorful doors and flower-filled window boxes, as well as traditional tea rooms, an old-fashioned sweet shop, and a few pubs. It has the feel of a traditional English village. Except for Christmas Day, the castle is open every day of the year. To clarify, while Corfe Castle is one of the most important castles in England, it is not a particularly enjoyable place to visit. I believe the National Trust excels at managing many of its state homes, but it is failing miserably at Corfe Castle. If you live nearby and are a member of the trust, you should definitely go but do some research first. The one positive aspect of our visit to Corfe was that the castle's entrance is located in the heart of the hamlet, so we could at least finish up at one of the small shops.
