Raby Castle

During our summer vacation, we went to Raby Castle. I checked the castle website and discovered a special tour for kids that begins before the formal opening. Our entire family had decided to visit Raby Castle. We purchased plane tickets and arrived at Stansted Airport. We had already reserved a company cab, and their service ratings were excellent. They were our favourites. They informed us of reasonable prices. The driver had my name board prepared for us. We trailed him to his car. The automobile was elegant, with a pleasant scent inside. He was wonderful with us. We reached the spot after many hours. so we arrived early to sign up. The trip lasted about 2 hours and was guided by "Mike the Footman." It was fantastic! It's not easy to keep my kids entertained when we go to castles, but he did it effortlessly and gracefully, with plenty of charm and humour. It was also nice to explore Raby Castle's halls while they were free of guests.

A tour for children:

We have visited over a hundred castles and stately residences to date, and this was the first time we came across this simple but brilliant approach to making a visit to a castle enjoyable. The tour was not a true historical tour of the castle (as Mike explained in advance), but rather a focus on the little details kids would enjoy about mediaeval Georgian and Victorian history, similar to a live version of the TV show "Horrible Histories," and it could easily be run in almost any of the places we have visited and work. The kids learnt about castle defence as well as how people used to go to the bathroom in Victorian times, and we finished the tour with lots of excellent photographs. If you plan on visiting the castle with children, be sure to do so while the tour is still available.

After the tour, I had some free time around the castle before joining "the adult tour," and I was pleased to see an introductory film in the entry hall. On the second tour, I revisited most of the locations we saw on the first, but the stories had an adult focus and were dedicated to the castle's larger history. The adult trip lasted an hour and a half, and the tour guide was both entertaining and informative. If guided tours are not your thing, the castle is also accessible for "free wandering," with many of its chambers open to the public. My other half roamed the grounds with the kids while I was on the second tour. There were two distinct types of children's pathways available: one in the walled garden and one on the grounds (especially during our strange and scorching summer). Raby Castle is home to hundreds of deer, and it was a lot of fun hiking around the sprawling grounds to discover them. Don't miss the coach house and the adventure playground if you're seeking extra activities to do with your kids.

When we left the castle, I was very pleased to receive a questionnaire in which I was asked about my visit. The individuals in charge of this one-of-a-kind castle care deeply about its tourists and the experience they provide. To summarise, Raby Castle is one of the greatest castles in England to visit. It has a deep history, a tremendous wow factor when you visit the state rooms on the interior, and most significantly, it has the best management staff we've met thus far. They make you feel welcome and encourage everyone to participate.
