Caerhays Castle

If you've been following me on social media today, you're probably sick of hearing about these Caerhays Castle photographs... But guess what?! I'm going to bring them up again because I'm so pleased to finally be able to share these photographs and tell you the story behind them. As you are all aware, I found bridal editorial photography a few months ago. I'm not sure how I had missed it for so long, but I was instantly engulfed in a world that I KNEW I wanted to be a part of. I've always been a fan of lovely, attractive photographs. Give me softness, flowers, and long flowing skirts, and I'll be the happiest photographer on the planet. Is it corny? Yes, it is possible. Is it too much? Yes, it is possible. Is it difficult to succeed? It is, indeed. Is my performance satisfactory? Nobody knows. All I know is that I adore these photographs.

Ione and I had been working together for a few months when she suggested we check if she could arrange for us to film at Caerhays Castle. I'd never heard of it before, but with the word "castle" in the name, my ears were perked up and ready. I looked it up and realised we had to figure out how to make it work. Because it was May, the flowers were in full bloom. Spring was finally here, the days were becoming warmer, and I couldn't wait. We were in after a few phone calls.

We touched down at London City Airport. We've already made plans for this trip. I had reserved a company cab before departing. I informed them of the number of seats we needed and the number of baggage we had. They provided me with a 5-seater vehicle with a spacious trunk. Their pricing was reasonable. The driver was waiting for us with a name board when we checked out. He was courteous. He looked after us the entire journey. The cab service was excellent. I also urge that you utilise company service every time you come here. As we drove down for a site reconnaissance, I felt increasingly enthused about our upcoming shoot. He dropped us off in front of the castle.

I decided to go on an hour-long house tour. It was guided by a pleasant and competent tour guide (several of the stories I gathered about this castle came from her anecdotes). The mansion is impressive, yet amusing. My children had a great time exploring the gardens while I was learning about the family's unique history and gardening enthusiasm.

We filmed all day, taking advantage of the wonderful grounds around the castle, the castle itself, and the nearby coast guard post. Caerhays Castle is a real wedding site, therefore you could be married there FOR REAL. It boasts stunning sea views, and the coastguard cabin is suitable for marriages if you want a small, personal ceremony. To summarise, Caerhays Castle is lovely, but its greatest draw is the grounds, not the building. If you are visiting Cornwall in the late spring and are a gardener, this is a must-see.
