Bodiam Castle

My professor gave us a project to work on in history class. We were a group of six students. We were to select and visit some of the most significant and iconic castles located throughout the country. It took us an entire week to select and come up with some different castles around the United Kingdom. Some of the choices are personal favorites of mine. Bodiam Castle was among these. It is one of my absolute favorites. We visited Bodiam Castle during the Christmas season, so the castle was crowded and the parking lot was full. This may not always be the case during the week or the off-season. It is, however, a popular tourist attraction.

We reached there through company cab. We had already booked a cab through their online call support service. They gave fair rates so we had finalised them. A driver picked us up from Gatwick Airport with his luxury comfy car. He was a charming man like his car. He dropped us near Castle. company service is great. However; Guider starts talking about this castle. Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, who was a knight of Edward III at the time, built the castle. With his knowledge of battles, he designed the castle to protect the beautiful area of East Sussex from a possible French invasion during the Hundred Years War. Sir Edward Dalyngrigge was the family's youngest son, which meant he was the last in line to inherit anything from the estate. However, he married into a landowning family, and he came into possession of the manor of Bodiam in 1378. During his knighthood, which lasted from 1379 to 1388, he amassed enough money to build himself a home, which became the foundation of Bodiam Castle.

Sir Edward originally planned to build himself a stately and impressive manor house, complete with a weekly market and an annual fair held on the grounds. Sir Edward was allowed to begin fortifying his manor home and protecting his estate and family two years later when the people of England were in a state of panic due to fleets of ships. Sir Edward decided that instead of using the building he already called home, he would construct a completely new structure. Bodiam Castle was the location. It grew into a large project, with the entire castle being constructed at the same time. This meant that the entire design and style of the castle were consistent, which is uncommon in other examples. The gardens were landscaped at the same time as the castle and featured a variety of different waterways around them.

Bodiam Castle was designed not only to protect its inhabitants but also to be a welcoming home. People are still fascinated by the castle's design in the modern era. It has a quadrangular design with chambers on the outer walls and towers at each of the entrance points and corners. These towers served as watchtowers for any potential attacks that would necessitate a quick response. It also has inner courts, which provided space for those who lived and worked within the castle. The moat had to be one of the most beautiful parts of the castle, but it also served as a sewage system for some 30 different toilets located throughout the castle, so it may not have smelled as good as it looked!
